Crafters of Faith Challenge

Today is going to be a tough post for me.  I do not share much of my personal life on my blog because I like this to be a place of inspiration.  But I felt this was the time for a special dedication.

I selected the month of February to be the hostess for our Crafters of Faith group on Splitcoaststampers.  The scripture I chose was 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things".

When I selected this verse I wanted to dedicate this month to my mother who has suffered from dementia for several years.  She had recently been in the hospital and was told she probably had 6 months to live.  I lost my mom 2 weeks after that.

This is a picture from Christmas 2015 of me and my mom before she got too bad and couldn't remember who we were.  I was with my mom the last days of her life and what I remember is her gripping a teddy bear that I had made for her years ago.  So it was easy to come up with a card this month.
I first started by sponging the hearts in the background using the new Picket Fence Blending brushes.  They are wonderful.  I then cut out the Penny Black Love die and stamped the bear from the Penny Black Key to my heart stamp set.  I colored her with my copic markers and fussy cut her out.  I then pop dotted her on the die cut to make it look like she was sitting on the word "Love".

Lastly I would like to that all my friends who have sent me sympathy cards.  They have meant so much to me and I have treasured each and every one.  I am so touched with the kindness everyone has shown me.

There is no special love like the love for a mother or love from a mother.  This is why I dedicate my card to the memory of my mother.

Oh Tracie - while your card is gorgeous, it is the touching words written about your mom (and the teddy bear she clutched, too) that has captured my heart. THANK YOU for sharing your stories, the photo of you and your mom, and the love you had for your mom. Beautiful!

What a sweet card, and thanks for sharing your heart here with us. I am so sorry for your loss. Although it is saddest for those of us left behind, your mom is now experiencing this great love we learn about from God our creator, she is surrounded by it all around her. We celebrate her life here on earth, but our greatest celebration is when we join with her in glory land. May you feel that continuing love that never dies, and that God's peace, comfort, and love surround you and your family during this time of physical separation from her. Find comfort in her love that is still abiding in you.

Our time with her was cut too quickly but we know that she loved us more than anything. I'm so glad that you have an outlet in making these beautiful cards to help heal your heart.
