Pals Paper Arts Challenge #104

Over at Pal Paper Arts you will see that Paper Piercing is the Element of Style this week. This reminds me of the days when we got the metal sheets outs and pierced them and antiqued them. What fun that was. For my picture I used a stamped image that was sent to me. I pierced the swirls and on each scallop edge. I am going to have a nice stash of birthday cards from all these wonderful challenges.

HSS Flourish Forever Theme Challenge #77

When I saw the challenge over at Hand Stamped Sentiments I knew which stamp set I was going to use.I used Baroque Motifs from Stampin Up. It was one of my very first stamps that I purchased and I still think it is one of my favorite go to stamps. It is so versatile and can be used for so many things.

The card base was cut using Crumb Cake Card Stock. The compliment color is Cherry Cobbler from Stampin Up. The sentiment was from Great Friend from Stampin Up.

So this is my version of Flourish Forever.

Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger

This challenge at Moxie Fab World sure brings back memories for me.

Just seeing this picture reminds me of my childhood. One of my favorite things to do when I was a kid was to crochet. My grandma taught me using a wooden crochet hook and plastic bread sacks. I thought I was something when I made a rug to put on the floor. It didn't matter to me or my mom that it was all bread sacks, we still loved it. When I decided to try my hand at yarn, I made an afghan just like the one in the picture above except I used all bright colors with black borders. I still wonder what ever happened to that afghan.

Well here is the card that I made from the inspiration photo above. I used the Stampin Up Circle Circus stamp set to make my background. The ribbon is the new color pool party which I just love to use. The other colors I stamped with were Pear pizzaz, Wisteria Wonder and Concord Crush. Hope you enjoy the card. I sure enjoyed going down memory lane.

Manhattan Flower Emboss

I am working on a technique demonstration for a card swap in October and I need your opinion. On the first card I used the Manhattan Flower Embossing folder from Stampin Up and vellum card stock. I sponged on the back of the embossing using 3 colors (Cameo Coral, Rose Red and Summer Sun). I then cut out the roses and layered on green cardstock.
On the next card I used an ivory background and sponged on the front of the embossed flower using the same colors.

My question for all of you out there is which do you like better? Just leave a comment below as to your favorite. Thanks for your help.

Today I found a fun sketch challenge over at Pals Paper Arts. This was the sketch that we were to use.

I again went to my stash of goodies from my secret sister and decided to use my copics to color in this image and use some of these wonderful designer papers that she sent me. I love the colors of this paper. Hope you enjoy.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #76

I really had to think about this challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments because it would mean I would have to get out of my pink mode that I always seem to be in. I got this wonderful package from my secret sister at SCS and decided I had to do something with all my goodies. I had purchased an old beat up book of poems at an antique store knowing that I would use the pages in my card making some day. As I was flipping through the book, I found the poem sun shadows and decided I had to use this in my card. The stamped leaves were from Take Three: Spring from Papertrey Ink. I added a few embellishments and decided I really like the colors yellow and green. I am glad I ventured out of my norm. So this is how I spend my summers - reading a good book in the sunshine.

The Corrosive Challenge #125

What a wonderful challenge I found at The Corrosive Challenge Blog. The theme was to make creations about music. I had found an old torn up music book at an antique store and isn't it amazing that everything old has potential for something new. So I made this card using a part of the music sheet. The stamp I used for the little girl is called Pure Innocence from My Favorite Things. The music notes were dies that came from My Favorite Things Also.
I am dedicating this card to my sister Debbi who has always been a lover of music. We all took piano lessons when we were young but it actually stuck with her. I still like to listen to all kinds of music. What a great challenge this was.

Papercraft Star Challenge #53

Today I decided to try my hand at another challenge. Papercraft Star is having a great challenge. This is the sketch that you were to use
So I got out my new favorite designer paper (Stella and Rose from My Mind's Eye) and some bling that I received from my secret sister on SCS and I really liked how it turned out. This card is going to a friend who just had a bike accident and going to be off work for a while.

Pals Paper Arts Challenge

My project today was from the challenge at Pals Paper Arts. The challenge was how you spend your summer months. I love the colors in this picture and it inspired me to make this card because reading is one of my favorite hobbies in the summer. I can just see myself setting in that chair reading away.

I used the stamp set from Papertrey Ink called "All Booked Up" which I have gotten alot of use from. Hope you enjoy this card.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #75

Funny that the challenge this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments is Good Day Sunshine because this week has been fun of sunshine and heat where I live. We lost power at my house for 7 hours and I have a new appreciation for electricity and air conditioning. Don't know how in the world we ever did without it. With temperatures soaring in the upper 90's, I was thrilled when our power came back on and the air conditioning was the sweetest sound ever.

So I finally sat down and made a card using the stamp sets "Vintage Labels" (For the sun) and "Friends Never Fade" from Stampin Up. The butterflies were from the Stampin Up butterfly embossit dies that I use for almost every card I make. Love those butterflies!!!

Shopping Our Stash Weekly Challenge #7

I came across this fantastic challenge at Shopping Our Stash and thought wow - what a perfect challenge for me. If you all remember I received this wonderful collection of goodies in a Secret Sister Card Kit swap and I have been having so much fun with all the goodies. You can see that even my kitty approves.

This is the most recent card that I have made. She sent me the birdhouse image along with all the papers to match so of course I thought I have to do it in purple. Well here it is. I will be visiting this blog often because I love the idea of using what I have.

Baby Quilt

Today I am posting a picture of a baby quilt I made for a friend. She is sending this all the way to Germany.

I met up with 3 of my high school friends yesterday and had a wonderful time. Although I don't have the memory of the fun times we had, it is like time stands still when we get together. What a blessing good friends are. I treasure each and every one of them and even if we don't get together often, we enjoy the gatherings that we have.

Have a great weekend.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #101

I found this fun challenge sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches. What a cute sketch this is. I decided to make a window out of my card and use one of the doily dies from Papertrey Ink on the inside. The cherry stamp and sentiment are from Everyday Button Bits from Papertrey Ink.

The designer paper, cardstock and ribbon was from a wonderful gift package from my secret sister on SCS in a card kit swap. There were so many goodies in that package and I am having so much fun with everything.

July Monthly Image Swap

This was one of the funnest challenges I received in the mail for a Monthly Image Swap. Totally out of my norm with flowers and birds. I had fun with it. The stamp is from High Hopes called Dragon Destiny I believe. I thought my little astronaut needed to be on the moon. Below are all the products I used to make this card.
If you can get to Splitcoast Stampers, be sure and check out here all the other great cards that were made with this image. Thanks Lena for sending such a cute image.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #74

This was one of my favorite challenges that I have seen in a long time. My button collection started years ago for sewing and I have continued to accumulate more with my scrapbooking projects. I received this very colorful designer paper from a friend and decided it would make a great background and would make great use of different colors of buttons. The stamp set was from Papertrey Ink called Everyday Button Bits.

Be sure and check out all the other great cards at Hand Stamped Sentiments and see what other creative people have made.

Purse for Chocolates

I was looking for a purse pattern and found this on QBee's Blog and decided I just had to give it a try. I am trying to come up with some ideas for a friend who is in charge of her Christian lady's group luncheon in the fall and she was looking for a small gift to put at each place setting. This was first attempt and have more ideas so keep watching.

Pals Paper Arts Challenge

I hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday weekend. As you can see by my recent posts, I have been on a card making spree. I found this challenge from Pals Paper Arts and decided this would be another fun challenge for me. The challenge was to try a new technique. I noticed on Nichole Heady's blog a new technique called Polaroid 2-Step Masking so I thought I really want to give it a try.

Instead of the square masking, I cut my 3 x 4 inch piece of paper and then I centered my PTI fillable frame die cut and sent it through my Big Shot. What fun this was. I then used the carnation stamp from PTI. I really like this concept.

Color Throwdown #148

Over at the Color Throwdown they are having a challenge to make a card using the colors above. I am loving challenges lately so I sat down to try and make a card. This is what I came up with.

I start with the green cardstock and using a versamark ink pad, stamped using a stamp from SU Sweet Summer. I then cut a 2" x 5.5" piece of pacific blue cardstock. I then used a piece of DP from DCWV "The Pocket full of Posies Matstack" cut 1 1/34" x 5.5". The lace border was made using a Martha Stewart punch. I then stamped the carnation from the PTI Year of Flowers Collection and colored in with my copics. The sentiment was from Fillable Frames #4 stamp set from PTI and I used the banner die from PTI to cut the little banner out with.

Hope you enjoy.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge #73

At Hand Stamped Sentiments they are having a challenge which calls for using charms. I found a little birdhouse charm in my stash and thought I had to use it somehow.

I received a wonderful card kit in the mail through a Secret Sister Card Kit swap in SCS this week with great papers and embellishments and we all know when you get something new, you have to play.

I started with a 2 1/8" square and cut it in half diagonally. That was were I cut for the top of the birdhouse for the front of the card. The birdhouse itself is 3 inches x 5 1/2 inches and I cut it at the top to match the diagonal I had cut previously. The roof is 1/2 inch strips ran through my crimper to give it a beveled looking texture. The circle is cut out with a 1 3/8" circle punch and then I used my scallop circle punch for the outside of the card.

Faith in Nature

This is a stamp that I used from Stampin Up "Faith in Nature" from the new catalog. I just love the set. It has a leaf, flower and pear. Of course I went with the flower.

Be sure and check back because I have lots of projects in the works, just need to take pictures and get them on the blog.

Creative Crew

This month's theme for our Creative Crew group comes from Terry and her theme is Thanks Snow Much.  What a fun theme but I hope this do...
